Exciting construction is happening at the zoo right now which we found out about that day. They are making a new "Asian Tropics" area. Some old habitats were torn out and a huge fence is up now. However, sections of the fence allow you to look in to see what is going on. That was J's second favorite thing to do: watch the backhoes.
Hmmmmm, I thought we went to the zoo to see some animals??
J and L did like the monkeys. They went from habitat to habitat saying, "Oooh Oooh Aaaaah" while doing monkey arms. The various monkeys were quite active when we stopped by and put on a nice show of swinging and jumping around. Also, J was actually not afraid of the gorillas for the first time since we started going to the zoo. :)
In a last ditch effort to take a picture of the two of them together, with some animals, we stopped by the elephants on the way out. Ye-yaeh... that didn't work!
First of all, you can't even see the elephants. The top rail of the fence is blocking the two there. Second of all, these were the three attempts. Didn't work out!

Looks like so much fun!! That new exibit sounds wonderful. I have been to the Denver Zoo (long time ago) and really enjoyed it!
Cute, cute pictures of your little man!
We are thinking of hitting the zoo this weekend. I suspect D will be more interested in the vehicles than the animals too...but we shall see.
I remember one trip to the zoo when I was a kid...our cousins from Norway were visiting...and one cousin (maybe age 10-11 at the time) was WAY more interested in the chipmunks running wild throughout the zoo than any of the actual zoo animals. She must have taken about 50 pictures of the chipmunks...and this was long before digital cameras. Cracked me up.
I can't wait to get back to the zoo!!
